Standout Performances

This week of competition has afforded several standout performances from SZS pitchers.

Kelsey Anderson (Junior, Burnsville High School) threw 2 back to back no hitters--Monday in a 5-0 win over Eden Prairie High School and Wednesday in a 2-0 win over Lakeville South High School. She bettered her strike out total to 67 in 38 innings of work, allowing a season total 10 hits. Her ERA is 0.37.

Hannah Evavold (Freshman, Bloomington Jefferson High School) kept the Jaguars undefeated stretch going (4-0 in the Lake Conference) with a 1-0 win over Rosemount on Wednesday. In just 32 innings of work, she has recorded 45 strike outs with just 8 hits given up.

Lauren Falkanger (Sophomore, Bloomington Jefferson High School) added to the win column for the Jags in her defeat over Apple Valley on Monday.

Kim Kelly (Senior, Minnetonka High School) recorded a huge 4-2 win over rival Hopkins High School on Thursday. She hit a 3 run homerun to win the game!

Sara Moulton (Senior, Eagan High School) improved her record to 4-0 in the Lake Conference, totaling 17 strike outs against Bloomington Kennedy High School on Monday! Michelle was honored to attend the Athena Awards Luncheon where Sara was presented with the 2010 Athena Award for Eagan High School on Wednesday this week.

Celina Nehmer (Sophomore, Simley High School) led her team to a first place finish in the Austin High School Tournament on Friday!

Kristina Soeldner (Junior, Eagan High School) has a 3-0 record so far for her junior varsity team, recording 18 strike outs in 16 innings of work.

Rounding Out the Week

Hannah Evavold (Freshman, Bloomington Jefferson High School) had 2 wins last week over Eden Prairie High School 3-2 on Tuesday in 13 innings and over 4th ranked Burnsville High School 2-1 on Thursday in 12 innings. Hannah threw all 25 innings this week! She had a combined 34 strike outs, while allowing only 3 runs on 6 total hits.

Kelsey Anderson (Junior, Burnsville High School) pushed her mark to 2-1 on the season so far, with shut out victories over Chanhassen High School 12-0 (6 innings) on Wednesday and Hopkins High School 1-0 on Saturday. Kelsey has 38 strike outs in 24 innings of work, while allowing only 2 runs on 10 hits.

Other noteables:
Sara Moulton (Senior, Eagan High School) improved her mark to 2-0 in the Lake Conference with a 9-1 win over Lakeville North High School on Thursday.

Kendall Palfi (Junior, Lakeville South High School) tossed a 1-0 shut out victory over Chanhassen High School on Thursday to bring Lakeville South’s record even at 2-2.

Off to a Great Start!

Strike Zone Sports pitchers are off to a great start in their high school seasons.

Ashley Walker (Jr., Shakopee High School) was named Player of the Week this week by Kare 11. She maintained a 0.00 ERA, while striking out 21 batters in wins over both Northfield High School and New Prague High School last week. She went 6-8 at the plate with a triple, home run and 3 RBI’s.

Sara Moulton (Sr., Eagan High School) opened Lake Conference play against Lakeville South High School on Tuesday (4/13). She came away with a perfect game in the 1-0 win, while striking out 13 batters. Sara scored the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning on Kelly Wood’s triple to the left field fence.

Kristen Fah (Sr., Becker High School) threw a perfect game (5 innings) against Zimmerman High School on Tuesday (4/13) in an 11-0 win. On Monday, she led off the 7th inning with a triple and then scored the walk off winning run in a 1-0 win over St. Michael’s, while striking out 14 batters. In 19 innings pitched, Kristen has already struck out 30 batters.
