Meet Our Instructors

Michelle Harrison

Michelle Harrison grew up in Southern California , the “hotbed” of fastpitch softball.  She played with such organizations as the Orange County Batbusters and Gordon’s Panthers.  Michelle was a left-handed, finesse pitcher, who utilized ball movement and speed variation to heighten her effectiveness.  She pitched for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and won a Big-10 Championship against powerhouse Michigan in 1999 to advance to a Regional appearance at UCLA.  The Gophers fell just short of a College World Series appearance.  Michelle went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton.

Michelle is in  her 13th year of experience in fastpitch instruction.  She began working with younger athletes when she, herself, was still a player.  Today, she owns and operates Strike Zone Sports as her full time career.

Katie Erstad

Katie Erstad is originally from Appleton, WI, where she was a 4 year starter and All-State pitcher for Appleton East High School.  Her team won a State title in 2000.  Katie was featured in Sports Illustrated for having 7 no-hitters in her senior season!  She played AFA and ASA softball from age thirteen, competing in several National tournaments throughout the years.  Katie went on to play for Minnesota State University at Mankato (2004), where she was a 4 year starter.  She still holds several pitching records for the Mavericks.

Katie resides in Rosemount with her husband, Matt.  She is a full time registered nurse in the Twin Cities.  Strike Zone Sports is extremely happy to have Katie on staff and looks forward to her success in aiding our athletes' development.
